Oklahoma

We spent our weekend in Oklahoma with my brother and his wife. They moved into the burbs just weeks before their wedding and the house they are renting for now is amaze. Inspires me to want to move even more. I cannot wait to redecorate/update our style. Funny how tastes change so quickly... I digress.

G was a champ on the way there and a perfect angel (slept the WHOLE way) home. Must have been that big breakfast his Uncle Poopy made him :)

We arrived Saturday morning, hit up a cute area downtown for lunch, then went to the zoo. I will say that the Oklahoma Zoo was one of the best zoos I have been to. Yes, this sentence surprises me as well. The animals were so close, out and about & the grounds were very pretty and shaded. We missed feeding the giraffes, but other than that no disappointments! Zak is a great cook and made dinner for us with his sous chef. Sweet Chara has patience like you wouldn't believe.

Sunday we went to brunch then over to the botanical gardens. Such pretty green space in the middle of the city. The plan was for G to enjoy the splash pad, but as a first timer, he wasn't so sure about all that, so we went back to Zak and Chara's and G enjoyed the plastic pool out back. More his pace I guess. Although, I am so surprised he didn't  love the splash pad since he is such a nut in the tub. Splashing away & when the faucet is running sticks his face in it and laughs his booty off. Maybe next time? Auntie Chara put on her PT hat and was showing G how to cruise and walk around. He loved it. We will see how long it takes to get this guy on his feet and moving.

Love spending time with those two. Selfishly wish they lived in Dallas so we could see them much more often... maybe some day!

Weekend Things

This past weekend was an extra long one for us. One of my very best friends from growing up got married, so we headed up to Chicago on Thursday to see family and enjoy the festivities.

I wont lie, I was scared to fly with G this go around. He's mobile these days, not quite a snoozy as he used to be, a lot more vocal, and he was so good last time, it left a lot for him to live up to. Luckily this Mama was prepared: Snacks, Milk, books, iPad loaded with Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and my Bose Headphones, done and done. It always feels good when everyone compliments you and your baby when you land.

Our first stop was Portillo's, per usual. One of maybe two trips we took there in four days. G had his first hot dog (don't judge!) and some itlian beef. It never disappoints. Ever.

That night we visited with my cousins and aunt & uncle. G had a blast meeting all of his extended family.

Friday we lounged around the hotel all morning before going on a little tour of my childhood. J wanted to see where I grew up so we drove around town while G napped.

The old house I grew up in... its changed quite a bit, but I will say the grey update makes it look much better.

That night we hung out with my other aunt, uncle and cousin. I did a terrible job documenting our time with them! Saturday we stopped by my grandparents house who have now both passed away and took some pictures of G on the front step and in the booth that we grew up in (dad and me).

Saturday Night we were off to Scott and Kim's wedding. It was a perfect day & a beautiful wedding! There was some down time between the ceremony and the reception, so we pre-gammed with my family & G

Sunday morning we had breakfast with the fam and headed off to the airport. G was an angel baby and slept the whole trip home and let both Mama and Daddy sleep too. ::insert praise emoji here::

Chara's Bride Tribe

This past weekend I was able to celebrate my sister-girl for her Bachelorette Party. It was so fun to celebrate her and although we joke about how annoying my brother is, I love him to pieces and could not imagine a better, more amazing woman than Chara to be his wife. My family is so lucky to have her and literally I wouldn't trade her for anything!

We headed out to Scottsdale for the weekend. It was so funny to hear people ask "Why Scottsdale?" and I didn't really know the answer, but after being there, I would go back a million more times. I really would love for J&I to go. There's outdoorsy things to do during the day, golf, spa & plenty of nightlife to be had. Its on our list, for sure.

Thursday we arrived, got settled and had a relaxing night in.

Friday we got up and headed out to the desert for a tomcar desert tour. This is something totally out of my wheelhouse, but we had THE best time! I would do it again in a heartbeat!

Friday night was our big night out: predrinks, dinner, and out to bars/clubs.

Saturday's moral of the story is: I'm too old for this nonsense.
We went to the spa and I had an amazing massage... but there was a lot of downtime Saturday... Thank.the.Lord!

Saturday night we went to a Craft Brew Fest and had dinner in Old Town.

Can we talk about what an amazing FaceTimer G is?! ugh - my favorite!

Although I had a great time on the trip, getting home and seeing my babe was awesome. Traveling for work vs traveling for fun is just so different.

I didn't know any of the girls except for one before the weekend, but we had the best time & are still all on a group text days later. I cannot wait to see everyone again at the wedding - I know we will have a blast!
