A Personal Touch

I was reading my blogs, and stumbled onto The Garter Girl's blog (she made my ughmazing wedding garter! and I would totally recommend her to make yours)... But on this particular day she wasnt blogging about a garter, but instead about a gift she had been given by a friend.

For those that know me, I LOVE to give gifts. Birthday gifts, Christmas gifts, Shower Gifts, Wedding Gifts, Happy Wednesday gifts... If I see something in the store and think it will cheer you up, you best believe I am going to grab it.

Jarrett and I have also started a tradition of buying an ornament on every trip we take and getting an ornament to remember special times we have together, so when I saw this blog, I knew I had to have one. And I knew that we have already bought J&J multiple items off their registry, so a personal touch was just what I was looking for.

I almost selfishly didnt want to post this blog and keep Kathleen a secret, but I am way too excited about this idea that I just HAD to share.

Here is ours:

And here is Justin & Jordan's:

LOVE this idea!

Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday:
Sister Edition

Most of you know that Jordan and I have had a soon-to-be sister countdown going since December 28th... the minute J&J got engaged. Neither of us were blessed with a sister.. we both have little brothers, who we love dearly, but there is something about having a girl to share life with that is so exciting.

April 16th Phase One of Operation: Become Sisters was complete, and this Saturday Phase Two will complete the mission.

I am honored to have been asked to speak at the rehearsal dinner and have been thinking about what I am going to say, which inspired this post.

In a nutshell, I am looking forward to being able to share all of life's memories with JoJo, have our children grow up together, and always have someone here who can understand everything I am going through.

So today, I am thankful for this amazing girl & the fact that we will be sisters this weekend... What are you thankful for???

10 Random Things..

10 Things I am interested in this week...

1. Love these Crate & Barrel plates, but lets be honest, what dont I love from C&B?!
 2. Texas Rangers in the World Series... no need to say much else!

3. Crab Corn Chowder from my girl, Rachel Ray... need to try it because it looks delish!

4. OPI French Quarter For Your Thoughts

5. Yarn Wreath

6. I need this... every single piece...

7. At Jakes last week, I loved the glasses our mimosas were served in.. Chris so kindly looked them up and sent me the link... dont you think I need them to join my other children??

8. Gender Reveal Parties - I think the idea is so fun and so cute. And someday when we are expecting a Baby D-Way we will have to have one!

9. These will be joining the wine bottle DIY I found last week in our Christmas decor.

10. And these are a perfect take home for showers or other parties; especially coming from us... with my husband's love for s'mores :)

Have a great rest of the week!

I Feel Silly..

Dear Mom,

You are a hairdresser. How have you allowed me to walk around and NEVER tell me that I wear my bobbypins incorrectly while they are holding my bangs back????? I officially feel like an idiot. Thanks.a.lot.

Love,
Ash

Thanks to pinterest, I am now aware that its wavy side down....

So embarrassing... did you know?!

Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday:
Flight Status Edition

So my last few Thankful Thursday editions have been heartfelt, or last week was about nature... well this week, as I begin my 3 weeks of travel, I want to be a bit more on the bratty side (oh come on, we all knew a bratty post was coming sooner or later!) and express my gratitude for my flight status.

Priority Access - music to my ears. I looooove being able to cut in front of people at the airport, to know I get to get in the shorter line, to know that I get to board before everyone else so I will never not have over head space (remember, I said I was going to be bratty).. And I also love being able to let people I am traveling with benefit from this too, even if they dont have status (thats sharing, so its negates some of the brattiness!)

A super unfortunate point to my status is that I have only achieved Gold this year... womp womp... I thought I was going to make Platinum by the skin of my pants, but my dad crushed my dreams informing me that my extra points I accumulate traveling as a Gold Member do not go towards qualifying for Platinum... Maybe next year kiddos, maybe next year....

So this Thursday, I am thankful to be able to accumulate points for trips for J&I, for skipping lines, getting upgrades, and boarding first... what are you thankful for??

Meet Leon

Our family has expanded...

Since a new puppy is out of the question right now, Leon will now reside in the kitchen..

Layla met her new brother.. I think she's disappointed that he wont be rough housing with her any time soon... or ever, really.

Happy Wednesday!

Weekend Wrap Up

We had quite a busy weekend, but each day was so much fun! I am not looking forward to Monday.. Thats for sure!

Friday

J was eager to get out to his parents house after work Friday to await the UPS man's arrival... (in case you live under a rock, the new iPhone 4S came out this week) When we arrived to Bob & Marianne's the phone hadnt come yet, so we joined them for a little happy hour. The UPS truck passed twice before actually stopping. J ran up to the truck like a kid on Christmas morning!

Once the iPhone was secured and J had failed at setting it up, we headed out to Lantana to the Tapellas for Supper Club. To J's delight (and mine as well!) yummy pot roast was on the menu, and she served a delish salad in the cutest way I have seen. Jacqueline and Trav took grapefruits and hollowed them out and carved them like jack-o-lanterns. So Presh!

Mister Landon is now 4 months old and ready to eat big boy food!

Jordan wasnt able to join us, so we happily were the Dunaways party of 3 :)

Once dinner was over, it was time to play with J's new toy. We asked Siri a ton of random questions.. J asked her multiple times to marry him... to each she had a different answer trying to let him down easy. "Lets just be friends".. "We hardly know one another, actually I barely know anything about you".. etc. Then the boys started playing with Trav's new toy - Apple TV... oh lorrrdd another thing to add to J's want list!

We drank lots of water and cut our evening a bit shorter than usual, since we had an early wake up call the next morning..

Saturday

Chris' company put together a team for the Susan G. Komen 5k and invited family and friends to join their team. So the Tapellas, Cabreras and Dunaways all met up on Saturday at 6:30 am to join the other 30,000 people to support the cause.

Landon was a great walking partner and the cutest one we could ask for!

Big or Small Save Them All!

The view ahead of us... and pretty much behind us. So incredible to see that many people out there

A sweet woman said she would take our picture... but my phone proved difficulties for her, so sadly this pic is the only one of our group... although it makes me laugh, so she did a GREAT job!

Post Race

We were finished with the race by 10 and were all starving! We headed out to Jakes (YUM!) for an early bird lunch. Burgers, Beers and Mimosas. Couldnt ask for more!

Landon was worn out from his walk!

Saturday night we headed out to Joshua, Texas with Bob & Marianne and Justin & Jordan to celebrate J's cousin, Hunter and his beautiful new wife, Lauren's marriage. I did a terrible job of taking pictures... (all weekend, but in particular this night!)

Just 2 more weeks and we are officially sistersssss!

Sadly the only picture I got of the adorable new couple - congrats you guys!!!

Justin schooling sweet 3ish year old Granger - love it!

My hunny!

Sunday

We got up early (yet again) and headed out to the State Fair with my parents.

Scott and Debs by the ferris wheel

J&I

Pic just for poopy!

We were walking through all of the pavilions and stumbled upon the goats... it was disgusting. But apparently my parents found it intriguing. They watched the judging - I was still so grossed out and thankful for the hand sanitizers (even though I didnt touch anything) This just teaches me that I am still a city girl, even if I have lived in Texas for 13 years...

This afternoon we watched the 'Boys... ugh. Cowboys. BUT on a positive sports note Aggies beat Baylor and the Texas Rangers are headed to the World Series! Thankfully we have something positive to watch at least for a few more weeks..

Have a great week!
